"Tomorrow.

"For ten long years, that was a word that none of us really thought about. We lived day to day, and scrounged a living from the ruins of our dead society. But, now that is changing. Survivors have begun to flock to my cause, and with each new person we become stronger and more self-reliant.

"The virus is still here, in the air, in the water, in the food that we eat and inside our own bodies. Only our meagre immunity stands between us and the walking death. Viruses mutate, though. It could still claim us all eventually.

"But in the darkness, there is beacon of hope, a shining light to guide our way to tomorrow. Rumours have begun to surface about a cure, an anti-virus that could finally render Ebola X obsolete.

"This is the dawn of our reawakening. If the rumours turn out to be true, then there will nothing to hold us back. We can rebuild, we can find other survivors and bring them to our little city - unite everyone that we can beneath our banner of hope.

"Are the rumours true, though? I don't know yet, but I intend to find out."

From the Author
Although this book does feature the undead, it is not intended to be horror. The Survivors is a little bit apocalyptic, a bit dystopian, a bit science-fiction, a bit zombie horror, but above all else it is a love story. To quote the very first blogger that got her hands on it: "(The Survivors is) a layered, touching, powerful story of humanity and survival."

The story takes place in the Waikato region of New Zealand, ten years on after a killer plague erased the majority of our species from the face of the earth. 99.5% of humanity is either dead, or has been reduced to the (mostly) harmless, lumbering undead. The few people lucky enough to be immune to the disease have spent the last ten years struggling to live amongst the ruins of a dead society.

For some people, the time hasn't been so bad. For other people - like our heroine and narrator, Sandrine McDermott - the last ten years have been a living hell. Without rules to keep people civilized, there's nothing to keep a lone female safe except her own wits. Sometimes, that's just not enough.

Life has not been kind to her. In fact, it's safe to say that fate's been kind of a bastard. However, it's also a whimsical bastard. When Sandy injures herself and is forced to go looking for the medication she needs to survive, she finds herself on the receiving end of kindness in the last place she expects. She's forced her to reassess her place in the world, and her own humanity.

The Survivors is a four-part tale that follows Sandy's evolution from the psychologically-damaged wreck that she at the beginning of the story, to the true heroine that we need to preserve our species from extinction.

Somehow, some way, she must go from being one of the hopeless wanderers, to being our hope for a new tomorrow.

Great Conclusion!
By Maria T
Spring. The time of new beginings when things are finally coming together for the survivors after more than a decade of uncertainity. The group is making it's way to Avalon and getting bigger every day. It's not always easy for them, but everything is coming into place slowly but surely.

We've seen Sandy come from being shy and uncertain around people to coming into her own becoming a leader in every way. She is strong and sure and when she isn't she has people around her to help figure things out. She practices what she preaches never just saying "go do this" or "this is how we should do things" but doing what she asks others to do and living by what she says others should live by. She is my type of heroine and I've loved seeing her story play out throughout this series.

This series shows what things could be like in a post-apocolyptic setting and how survivors would be like and how they might do things in order to keep on living. I enjoyed each of the characters and their stories, making you feel like you're right there with them through their struggles and triumphs. The series as a whole kept me interested right from the start and I was excited to see the characters getting the HEA's. They might not be real people but the way it was written makes you feel like they could have been and you were excited right along with them as everything finally came together.

Awesome series !!!
By Justine McFadyen
What can only seem like a lifetime ago Victoria asked me if I'd read The Survivors Book 1 : Summer in return for a honest review . I was a bit dubious as I'd never really read or enjoyed zombie stories before but I thought "what the hell. Ask she has asked me so kindly the least I can do is give it ago !" What i didn't expect was to be sucked in from the very beginning . I have never looked back .
This is the perfect conclusion to THE BEST EVER world ending , zombie apocalypse, love story I have ever had the pleasure of reading .

Living day to day , scrounging a living from what they can find . The virus is everywhere, in the air , water, food. Can they survive ? Rumours have been heard of a vaccine that could mean it'll all be over . Can tomorrow really exist?
I have never read and I don't think I'll ever will find a story more compelling . You can clearly see why this story took Victoria two years to complete . It shows the struggle you go through just to survive on a daily basis without even the basic of things , electricity , food , water , medical needs . Could you survive ? I don't think I could .
I am and will always be Victoria's number one fan . I am looking forward to reading more from this fantastic author .
Thank you Victoria for asking me to read book 1 because I know the whole series would still be on my TBR list waiting for me to discover them .

I absolutely loved the 1st three books in the series
By loverofbooks1000
I absolutely loved the 1st three books in the series. I enjoy zombie series but these were different because the story was about hope and moving on. But unfortunately I didn't like this book. It was rushed and felt incomplete. The actual ending of the book was also annoying as in typical kindle fashion it says there are 10 minutes left then the story ends abruptly and there is the 1st chapter of a different series. I felt unsatisfied
