An Excellent Guide

So far this has been a great help with progressing through Breath of The Wild. I have not used the walkthrough as I want to progress through the main quest on my own, but there is plenty of other useful information in this book including a complete list of Shrines and side quests and item and enemy information. Plus general tips on gameplay. I'm no stranger to Zelda but Breath of The Wild breaks Zelda conventions to the point where it's as if it's my first Zelda game. With the level of difficulty having a guide is really useful, especially when it's accompanied by clear illustrations.

I got the paperback version and the binding seems strong, and the pages are laminated to prevent damage. It's very high quality for a paperback. The book is well organized and easy to navigate. My only real complaint is the map placement. Maps are frequently placed over both pages, and the part where the seams meet is very hard to read.

This is a fantastic guide. They did a great job with the layout, making it clear and intuitive. Covers almost everything in the game, from where to find individual items, to completing each shrine, to an appropriate approach to each monster fight.

FAMILY HISTORY AND JAZZ BEAUTIFULLY RENDERED

In this highly readable and deeply personal account, music, specifically jazz, is explored as the conduit by which immigrants from the Indian state of Goa created community in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, during the 1950s and 60s. The author's father worked for Barclays Bank by day and played the accordion by night. Jerry Luis and his fellow Jazz Swingers members regularly took the stage at the Ocean Breeze, the city's most popular restaurant and nightclub. There, in snazzy suits and bow ties, the musicians played "Take the A Train," "Bye, Bye Blackbird," and other favorites to the delight of their audiences which drew from a number of Tanzania's social clubs. East Africa was once home to hundreds of social, sporting and cultural associations including at least four Goan clubs in Dar es Salaam as well as Greek, Portuguese, Scottish and Italian associations -- many of whom gathered to dance to the melodies of the Jazz Swingers."Waiting for Sunrise" also explores the monumental changes that Tanzania, a British territory and racially segregated country, underwent in the years before and after 1961 when it gained its independence. These shifts are examined by the author through the lens of the Goan community and the Jazz Swingers. The book ends with a chapter on the author's own musical journey as a blues performer.Toward the end of the book, the author reflects that, "With every few exceptions, musicians in Dar functioned somewhat in a vacuum, generally playing with their own ethnic or racial groups. This was so different from my own musical experience in the U.S., which helped to reinforce the notion that while we may be different, we are all connected." Family history and jazz meld wonderfully in this highly recommended account.

Overrated

I think this book is overrated. It's value is really overblown across the various internet forums devoted to law school, and I feel that the lessons it teaches are narrowly applicable and may lead the unwary student into trouble with professors who are trying to teach their students to think a certain way, or prefer certain arguments over others. In any case, the ideas should be self-evident to the law student; but if you are not a good writer and have trouble organizing your thoughts quickly it may be helpful. I found that my professors' personal idiosyncrasies and testing styles made this book largely irrelevant to my exams. The book may be helpful if your professor teaches the course in the "classic" Socratic way and gives the "classic," pure issue-spotter exam. I think both of these are becoming less and less common across the board. But if you are a ball of anxiety, and you need something to help you sleep at night, this might be a cheap and effective palliative.

Must-Have for Law Students

This is a good book. A lot of the trouble with law school exams is law professors are notoriously bad teachers, and these bad teachers write bad exams. Granted, this is a worst-case scenario, but if you've been to law school for more than one semester, there's a good chance that at least one of your professors has utterly bamboozled you into how he/she wants the final written. So what this book does is give you something of a blueprint and a method of examining fact patterns and exploring the question(s) so that you can simply go into the exam and take it without much fear.

Where the book fails to be of help though, is with the IRAC method. I wholeheartedly agree that IRAC is a too-constrictive method of writing that tends to inhibit most students from really expressing what they know. Law professors largely want a mechanical recitation of rules followed by mechanical analysis, so law students spend hours and hours memorizing rules with the ultimate purpose of using them in an IRAC format. It's absurd, but that's the way it is. And this book simply dismisses the fact that lazy law professors love IRAC for the fact that it gives them a template from which they can read and score exams quickly.

But still, you can construct an IRAC using this method, it just doesn't lend itself seamlessly to it, which is pathetic--not with respect to GTM, but to the teaching and testing methods used by professors. If you don't believe me, and if you haven't already done so, go look at model bar answers from your state and see if they employ a rigid IRAC formula. They don't. And so to me, that's what this book was good for--being able to write bar exam quality answers that leave room for a different writing styles and methods of analysis.

If you're just starting law school, buy this book. If you're already in and still struggling, buy this book. If you're the king or queen of fastidious, multiple, anally retentive headers on your exams, read this book and go look at bar answers.

I read this book and I've just successfully completed my first year of law school. Here's what my impression of the book and my experience of law school say. Law school is NOTHING like your undergrad experience. In law school you are going to be asked to read anywhere from 60-120 pages a night, come to class the next day prepared to be cold-called on by the professor, and you'll be expected to have an intelligent answer. On law school exams you'll need to not only have the right answer, but give your analysis as to why you got to your answer. This book essentially tells you that: (1) typically the most right answer to a question in law school is "It depends." I guaranteed you that if you only offer those two words, you're professor is going to reply, likely aggravated at that point, "What does it depend on?" (2) On law school exams, you are going to be given the most ungodly complicated fact-patterns (scenario) to which you will be asked either to "discuss the liabilities and defenses for each party" or som other relevant question asking you to analyze the fact-pattern. (3) In law school, there is RARELY EVER a single black or white answer. Often, the professor could care less on what way you come out on your answer. The golden points are gained in a solid analysis. You MUST break down your essay answers in IRAC format (Issue, Rule, Analysis, and Conclusion). So you'll give the Issue (there will be a bunch of them so you'll be doing this IRAC analysis thing multiple times on your exam), then you'll state the relevant rule (hopefully you've memorized the rule), then you'll begin to do an analysis synthesizing the rule along with the facts from the fact-pattern. Finally, you'll give your conclusion based upon your analysis of the rule and relevant facts.

This book tells you to explain how and why you got to the answer you provided in your conclusion. If you simply provide an answer and not an analysis, you'll loose major points!

Generally Concerning Law School:
If you just can't help your pre-law school OCD self (don't worry, I was in the same boat) then go ahead and read this book, at least to kill time. The book itself is an easy read with many hypotheticals. Just don't expect to read it, or ANY book for that matter, and think you'll walk into law school killing it. Law school is a bunch of continuous kicks in the gut, over and over, until you decide that you either want to quit or that you are going to force yourself to learn the proper format and method of thinking. Law school is a great experience that is very satisfying, but be prepared to work harder than you have in your entire life. One fellow student who is a mother of three teen-age sons told me, "law school is harder than raising kids." Law school all boils down to two questions you must ask yourself, "How bad do I want it?" and "How disciplined am I to achieve this goal?"

1. The group leader is the most competent English speaker in the group and serves the role of a presider.
2. Members take turns in the conversation neither in a clockwise nor anti-clockwise rotation, but by random designation by the leader, so that everyone stays focused during the session.
3. All members are encouraged to ask follow-up questions.
4. In order for each member to enjoy the session, everyone will be given a fair number of speaking chances.
5. The leader is given maximum decision making rights and can exercise these rights when covering controversial topics.

About the Author
Robert L. Finder, Jr., is a Managing Director for a national financial services firm, working closely with financial professionals to develop wealth management solutions for high net worth individuals and their families, businesses, institutions, and retirement funds. He was previously Executive Director of Wealth Management Solutions at Prudential Investments in Newark, NJ, and also served as National Sales Manager for the Managed Accounts Consulting Group. Mr. Finder was President and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Heritage Trust Company in Racine, WI, and Landmark Trust Company in St. Louis, MO. Prior to that, he practiced estate planning and tax law.

Hits the right points

The lessons from this book should be followed by anyone that wants to improve their communication skills. In my opinion, the most important point in this book is that one should be a good listener. Only when you listen can you actually learn what your client or customer (or just about anybody) really means or wants.

There are also many other suggestions in this book, like avoiding non-words (e.g., uh, um) and hedge words. In my opinion, some of the suggestions are easier said than done. Specifically, many people are afraid of public speaking or presenting to a relatively large crowd that adding several other key thoughts may be overwhelming. Therefore, I don't know how realistic one can get to attaining all the prescriptions in this book. Nonetheless, I think that if one strives to master all the suggestions in this book (even though not perfecting all of them), one will definitely become a better communicator.

Excellent, clear and concise

This book helps anyone who speaks in front of others, to improve how they communicate. Among the is the advice to listen rather than speaking, with many great details. If you are in the business of interaction with anyone else in sales, business, or consultation, this book will vastly improve how you are perceived. Highly recommended.

Solid information but doesn't practice own advice

This is a mixed review. On one hand, the book does provide solid information and examples for improving communication...so far so good. On the other hand, the author fails to take his own advice and spends an inordinate amount of time talking about his own lifestyle, situations and scenario's...yes, most of the time they provide an example to the issue at hand but rarely are they required. It fluffs up the book but does little to drive the point home.

Additionally, while the book is long on opinion and actually presents some fairly good advice, it's not substantiated with data, stats or studies. WHEN they are presented, they tend to be very good...but the author scrimps in that direction. Like most people who know their field very well, the author takes a "take it from me" approach and fails to substantiate what he knows with outside resources.

Overall a quick read that is not without merit but is limited by the lack of outside hard-hitting data/stats etc and excessive personal insight/sharing.

It is written in conjunction with the USGA Green Section agronomists and covers the practical and technical aspects of turfgrass culture, management, and operation of golf courses.

About the Author
James B Beard was born in Bradford, Ohio, in 1935, earned a BSc degree from Ohio State University in 1957, Summa cum laude, and both MSc and PhD degrees from Purdue University in 1959 and 1961, respectively. He subsequently was awarded a National Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Life Science Department at the University of California–Riverside in 1969. He has held research-teaching positions on the faculties at Michigan State University from 1961 to 1975 and Texas A&M University from 1975 to 1992, and served as Interim Head of Soil and Crop Science Department in 1980. He founded the International Sports Turf Institute, Inc. in 1992. Dr. Beard is an international advisor and lecturer on turfgrass issues. He has published over 260 scientific research papers and over 400 popular technical articles.

Great all around book, lots of info from green/tee construction to fertilizer culture/fungicide usage. Even goes into detail about golf course management hierarchy options. This book covers every aspect of a golf course, and was even pretty enjoyable to read. Page/picture quality isn't the best, but I didn't buy it to look at glossy pages.

I learned this material years ago but when I need to

look things up, this book has everything, well written.

For example the Taylor expansion with multinomial notation

is given here. The writer treats the undergraduate student's

intellect with respect. This is a serious book.

Solid Text - Complete Solutions Manual Available

If you are considering purchasing this book for self-study it's worth it because as far as I know it's the only Analysis text available that gives you the option of purchasing an additional complete solutions manual, Rami Shakarchi's "Problems and Solutions for Undergraduate Analysis." Attempting to learn Analysis on your own is especially difficult if you do not get feedback on attempts at proofs. I would think that I had correctly proven theorems in class only to find out that I was overlooking something critical as pointed out by the professor. So if you have no professor, Shakarchi's text can give you the feedback that you need, though you have to consider if it's worth it to purchase both texts. I just want to make sure that people are aware that the complimentary text exists. It's worked well for me to have both.

As for Lang's Analysis itself, it's quite terse, though I enjoy Lang's writing style myself. Quite a bit is left to the reader, but that's a good thing as it gets you thinking. Also, this book is quite thick and goes pretty deep into analysis. You can learn much more than you would in one semester at school. If you can get through this text, you are well on your way...

Solid, complete reference to basic analysis topics

Serge Lang's "Undergraduate Analysis" offers an impeccable selection of topics and exercises for the student wishing to broaden his/her knowledge of analysis. The proofs of theorems can be terse at times, but a hardworking student will gain much through a thorough reading of the text. Also, Lang concentrates many of his exercises on estimates, which is an art form that is slowly dying among undergraduates (and graduate students as well, sad to say). Many of his problems require only the triangle inequality (the basic tool of estimation) and ingenuity (and hard work) from the student. I would strongly recommend this text for anyone who wishes to fully understand and appreciate the results and techniques of basic real analysis.
