Excellent book for Kyoto

we visited Kyoto for 10 days and we found this book pretty helpful. We ended up keeping it with us the whole time. I really liked the walking tours- especially through Gion area- very well done!! And the pull out map was our main navigation source. Worth the price of the book by itself. I've been using Lonely Planet books since the 80's and this book does not disappoint. Also- it's small and light. Going to Kyoto? get this book.
It also included stuff about Nara and a few other places around Kyoto- day trips- so that was nice.

A nice clear guide to the area. We couldn't find one of the recommended restaurants (can't recall the name offhand but it was at the northeast corner of the Imperial Palace gardens), but otherwise found it to be very helpful for our short stay in Kyoto.

About the Author

Sadık Kaka� has been known as one of the most recognized scientists in the field of heat transfer. He received his MS in mechanical engineering in 1959 and his MS in nuclear engineering in 1960, both from MIT. He received his Ph.D. from the Victoria University of Manchester, UK (1965). He has authored and co-authored over 200 scientific papers on transient and steady-state laminar forced convection, turbulent forced convection, two-phase flow instabilities, fuel cells modeling, and heat transfer in microchannels with slip flow. He is currently involved in convective heat transfer enhancement with nanofluids in single-phase and two-phase conditions.

Only for real fans

Ok I'm a geek. I go to Outpost31.com and I never miss the film. I waited for the prequel like people line up for Black Thursday sales. So if you are a geek like me and REALLY LOVE the Carpenter film, this is for you. An interesting find and fun to see the author's take on different aspects of the film. This is one guy who actually loves the film more than I do! But if you are just a normal Sci/Fi and Horror movie buff...this will be TMI for you. So be warned.

This approach suits best in today’s context where plants are targeted only as producers and hormones are employed to get desired results. Chapter 1 of this book (which embodies a total of 10 chapters), gives a comprehensive survey of the hitherto known brassinosteroids, isolated from lower and higher plants.
