not without a book like this to help you

I use Excel for my day to day work in my office. I am familiar with some of the basics of excel. Some time I find difficulties while doing data analysis. I was looking for tutor for learning the advanced commands of excel and luckily I found this book on Amazon. Well, not without a book like this to help you. It breaks down the most useful functions in Excel which most people are completely unaware of. It includes things like pivot tables and even using macros. This is the book I have been looking for!

Worthless

Having skimmed its many glowing reviews, I purchased this book. Alas, it is worthless, so much so that I must conclude that most (if not all) of its 5-star reviews are spurious. (Please read those reviews more carefully than I did. Most are poorly written, and many of them are virtually incomprehensible, clearly written by people barely conversant in English, people for whom this book would have been indecipherable.) This heavily padded, 99 page pamphlet claims to be a "Quickstart Guide From Beginner to Expert." But in fact it is neither a "quickstart guide" nor is it of any use to a "beginner", as its often impenetrable prose assumes its readers are already quite conversant in Excel. (A randomly chosen sentence on page 39: "If you have C or C++ coding knowledge, then this is the Excel counterpart to string concatenation.") What this book "is" is a poorly written manual that catalogues the features of Excel 2013 (not Excel 2016, as its back cover claims). It contains not a single illustration to supplement or illuminate its labored text. I'll be returning my copy for a refund.

Self-Esteem Issues and Answers: A Sourcebook of Current Perspectives, by Michael H. Kernis, 2006, New York: Psychology Press, may stand as one of the most important books written on self-esteem in the past decade or more. Although there have been several comprehensive looks at the field that stand as classics, none has taken the unique approach found in this one. Kernis developed a list of most of the major issues in the area of self-esteem and then identified leading experts in each one. Next, he invited them to write a short summary of their position on their respective areas of expertise. The result is a broad and state-of-the-art look at self-esteem today presented by people who have established credentials in the field. This book is especially important because it reveals a new vitality, depth, and sophistication in the field that has been overlooked recently by those who only wish to criticize or ignore work on self-esteem. This collection of writings ranges from the critical issue of defining self-esteem, through work on the personal and social functions of self-esteem, to the importance of enhancing self-esteem in the clinical setting and elsewhere. About the Author
Robert Farris Thompson is the Colonel John Trumbull Professor at Yale University’s History of Art Department. He specializes in African and African-American art and has published extensively on the topic. Rene Ricard was an artist, poet, and art critic credited with launching the career of Jean-Michel Basquiat in a 1981 issue of Artforum. He was a fixture of New York’s art world from his arrival there in 1965 to his death in 2014.

This volume is the catalogue which was (finally) released several months ago for a major Basquiat exhibit at Gagosian Gallery back in 2013. I purchased this catalogue directly from the gallery, so I can't speak for Amazon service.... But as for the catalogue itself, it is an excellent representation of the exhibit in both layout and content. Most of the works displayed were during Basquiat's earlier career with some later works as well. This was by no means as complete a showing as, say, the 2005 blockbuster at Brooklyn Museum (to my personal disappointment, " Riding with death" was displayed but the "Eroica" paintings as well as my beloved "Pegasus" were noticeably absent.) Still, Gagosian is a great gallery space and it was a great showing overall. My personal interest in this catalogue was actually not for the artworks themselves as much as for the insightful commentary if Robert Farris Thompson regarding some if the included works. Basquiat stated on numerous occasions that he particularly enjoyed RFT's critiques and reviews of his work. He gave the impression that he felt RFT really "got it".....and after reading this volume, I agree. Of course, the essay pieces by Rene Ricard are wonderful....he himself was quite the character! I'm a HUGE Basquiat fan and I enjoy taking in the various perspectives of the work and the artist. This catalogue is rich in that respect.....very enjoyable. I would not agree, however, that this is THE BEST catalogue in print today. The Tony Shafrazi catalogue released in 1999 and currently still available through Shafrazi Gallery is the best currently in print IMHO (my prized catalogue) based on quantity and quality of plates and works represented. The BEST EVER would be the 1996 Navarra Catalogue Raisonne (dying to own this).

Fantastic! This is one of the best collections of Basquiat paintings available. I was able to see the exhibition this book is based on and the selection of artworks was worthy of a museum showing. This book is beautifully printed in a large 10x12 inch format in full color with a sturdy hardcover binding. Whether you already have a number of Basquiat books or this is your first one this is a must-have and highly recommended. Of the Basquiat books currently in print this is easily the best one available. Five stars!
